Help with "Requesting a Babysitter"

  1. Select a start and end time. If the hours you want do not appear on the calendar, you can input them at the bottom of the screen under the 'special request' box
  2. Scroll through the calendar to find the day you want by using the arrows under the calendar
  3. If you have any special requests such as 'please give them dinner' or 'please pick them up from school' you can enter them in the 'special request' box. When your friends receive a request which has a special request, they will see the full request on their e-mail. On the text message, it will simply state 'See Note' and they will be able to see the additional information when they check the website.
  4. Select which group you want the request to be sent out to (if you have multiple groups)
  5. If you have registered for the text message service then the system will automatically assume that you want both text messages and emails to go out to your chosen group; if you wish only email messages to be sent, then you need to remove the tick from the 'send text messages to group' check box. If you do want text messages to be sent to your group then you will be charged £1.50 per 10 members (or part thereof) in your group, plus your standard text message charge.
  6. Click 'next' which takes you to a confirmation screen
  7. The confirmation screen shows you your current request on the calendar as 'c'. It will also highlight to you if you have already agreed to babysit for someone else at the same time, or indeed if this is a duplicate request. Even if you do have a conflict, the system will not prevent you from continuing with the request as you may have a reason to still proceed
  8. Once you have checked the details including your mobile phone provider, hit the 'confirm' button
  9. The system will confirm to you that messages (both e-mail and text if applicable) have been sent out to your group.
  10. If the request is for a babysit due to start in less than 24 hours, it is classed as 'urgent'. Such requests will be highlighted in bold on the website and will say 'urgent' in both the text and e-mail messages
  11. This request will now appear on your statement as an 'open' request, but without any points being debited from your account.
  12. You will receive a confirmation text message saying 'Thank you for using The Baby Bank…' This confirms that you have been billed £1.50 and that text messages have been sent out to your group to find a babysitter.
